Project objectives

The goal of the TECHGENE project is to incorporate the novel MPS technology in routine diagnostic laboratories for the improved diagnosis of genetically heterogeneous diseases. To do so, new approaches will be investigated and new tools will be developed.

In summary, the objectives of the TECHGENE project are:

 

Development of high throughput molecular analytical tools using MPS technology, with special focus on:
  • Generic data analysis, including advanced and automated data read-out system
  • Model design for setup, allowing for rapid extension upon availability of new knowledge
    (e.g. newly identified genes/mutations)
  • Model generic validation protocols
  • Cost effectiveness analysis and evaluation of the economic impact
  • Dissemination and training
  • Evaluation of ethical issues
